You have the option of recording audio from a mic or your system, or both. It comes with a very simple but yet powerful screenshot annotation tool and lets you add comments, draw rectangles and arrows or add text. Capturing screencasts or screenshots is as easy as opening the app, selecting your capture area, and pressing a button. So, as soon as you finish recording, you instantly get a shareable link. Powered by StreamingVideoProvider, Screenrec uses a sophisticated algorithm to upload your recording to the cloud in real time. It is both screenshot capture tool and screen recording software. Screenrec is a powerful alternative to Snagit for Windows (Lastest Windows 10, 8, 7 are supported), Linux and Mac. Why you have to pay for a tool so simple as screen capture is beyond our understanding, but Snagit only comes in a premium package. Snagit is available to purchase for $49.95. Let’s get this out of the way now no, THERE IS NO FREE VERSION OF SNAGIT. Here’s the thing, though, there are so many other programs like Snagit that are free, and, dare we say, even better. Snagit is a program that works as a screen recorder with an image screen capturing tool, a snipping tool, and video/audio recording capabilities. What do you do? Do you just buy Snagit because the internet has been force-feeding it to you for years? Or do you roll up your sleeves and decide to look for a free alternative to Snagit? Snagit has 'outputs' the 'share' dropdown in region (1) of the screenshot - using outputs, it's possible to take screenshots that automatically paste into a word document, in sequence, without ever seeing the snagit editor window. So, you’re on your desktop and you find yourself needing to do a quick screengrab. when doing a region capture, you can use the arrow keys on your keyboard to 'nudge' the selection one pixel at a time, useful for getting exact areas like a dialog box. Here are a few more tips you may not know about: In my case, the snagit editor comes up because I use that a lot, but it's also already copied to the clipboard so if I close the editor by pressing the escape key, the clipboard will still contain my screenshot. When I do it in with the settings above, the interface comes up with a region capture already started, I just drag my mouse and select the region of the screen I want. Now whenever you hit command-shift-c (or the keys you picked) you can do a snagit screenshot. (A pop up will appear, choose "new preset from current settings" and give it a nameĤ) Click the "add Hotkey" area, then type a combination that you can use on your mac, it should be a combination not used by any other mac program, I've used Command-Shift-C with good luck. I'll highlight the most important parts of this screen:ġ) set this how you want snagit to work, mine shows preview turned on, but you'll want yours off.Ģ) click presets to show the preset area shown in my screenshotģ) click the plus to add a preset using the settings above This screenshot is from the windows version, but I also have snagit on mac and it works the same way. So the good news is, you can do EXACTLY what you want and MORE. Yes, at some point in snagit's evolution it got 'better' but as a result it also got 'more complicated'
